FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WOODBURY, NY – Expanding its product line into the wireless subwoofer category, Infinity Systems today announced the introduction of its PS212W, a high-performance subwoofer that combines superlative low-frequency capability with the flexibility of wireless connectivity.
The PS212W simplifies subwoofer installation. Its wireless capability eliminates the need to route wires to the subwoofer through walls or under floors – a solution that provides far greater installation flexibility and more placement options in home theater and music systems.
The PS212W powered subwoofer includes a compact, easy-to-use transmitter/receiver module that operates in the 2.4GHz frequency range and offers a choice of four selectable channels to ensure interference-free operation. The module connects to an audio/video receiver (or other audio source) and sends signals to a wireless transceiver unit built into the subwoofer.
The subwoofer includes a built-in 400-watt amplifier and a 12-inch woofer featuring proprietary Infinity® Metal Matrix Diaphragm™ (MMD®) driver material, which is manufactured by anodizing both sides of an aluminum core to a controlled thickness. This process produces a low-mass, highly rigid driver diaphragm that operates with greatly reduced distortion and delivers exceptional articulation and resolution.
The PS212W features continuously variable crossover frequency and level controls and a phase switch to optimize its bass performance in any system and room; it also includes line-level and LFE inputs, enabling its use as a conventional wired subwoofer if desired. The PS212W is also ideal for use with Infinity in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, or to add authoritative, extended low-frequency capability to any home entertainment system. The PS212W has a black-ash finish accented by a black curved grille that perfectly matches Infinity Primus® Series loudspeakers.
The Infinity PS212W wireless powered subwoofer will be available in January 2008 at a suggested
retail price of $679.
