Seymour AV adds Somfy motor options to Center Stage screens

Ames, IA – Seymour AV’s Center Stage acoustically transparent retractable screens are now available with an option for the Somfy® ILT motor system to increase control options. This option is in addition to the standard RF-controlled motor so that consumers can now control their screen via infrared (IR) remote, DC voltage, dry contact, or RF using the standard set of Somfy accessories that Seymour AV has to offer. Since Somfy is a leading provider of tubular motors for the projection screen industry, there are additional ways to now control your Center Stage screen using other Somfy components, such as Ethernet or X-10. This premium motor option reduces the retraction time for a Center Stage screen from approximately 20 seconds to a brisk seven. It also shaves off 3dB in motor noise from the Center Stage’s already very reasonable 51dB noise rating from the standard RF motors.

Center Stage screens are acoustically transparent, offering audiophiles the benefits of placing at least the center speaker behind the image without experiencing the acoustical distortions from the large pieces of glass, plastic, or vinyl that traditional displays and screens use. Now, a full size center channel identical to the main speakers can be used without compromises. Or, an existing center can be mounted vertically behind the screen for improved horizontal frequency response. Indeed, all three speakers can be located behind the screen for a true theater experience.

The woven Center Stage screen fabric has the highest gain (1.16) on the market, offering a sharp, bright image from edge to edge. It does not require any EQ, will not moiré or audibly comb filter, and attenuates the sound on average two decibels above 8 kHz. The holes in the woven Center Stage material are only about 0.007” square and are over 2.4 times as dense as the common 0.020” diameter micro-perforated vinyl screens.
