Liberty Wire & Cable Introduces New High-Performance Plenum Cable for RGBHV Uses

New 5-Conductor, RoHS-Compliant RGB5C-23-CMP Cable Enables Long Runs of High-Resolution Computer, HDMI and DVI Signals

Liberty Wire & Cable, worldwide supplier of a broad range of wire and cable products for the audio/video trade, including custom installers and systems integrators, introduces RGB5C-23-CMP Plenum Cable, the best and highest performance plenum cable for RGBHV applications, at InfoComm International 2009, the annual convention of the International Communications Industries Association.

“The new RGB5C-23-CMP Cable is ideal for long runs with high-resolution computer signals,” said Bill Schripsema, Director of Commercial Products, “and for long runs of HDMI and DVI signals when used with Liberty’s DL-HDCX DigitaLinx HDMI over RGB Cable extender.” Recent changes in the certification process by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) prompted Liberty to develop the new cable, which is UL-listed for use in plenum air spaces in the U.S. and Canada. Plenum cable is cable certified by building codes for use in the plenum spaces of buildings, the spaces that can facilitate air circulation for heating and cooling systems, such as over a dropped ceiling or under a raised floor.

For computer signals, the cable offers less attenuation than industry-standard 26 AWG Mini Hi-Res cables, which means it can run 50 to 100 percent longer without electronic boosters. For HDMI and DVI signals, it performs reliably at lengths up to 300 feet at 1080p/60mhz resolution when used with Liberty’s DL-HDCX extender. It is swept to 4.5 GHz for reliable performance with any analog or digital signal.

The cable features, according to Kirk Horlbeck, Senior Vice President of Marketing, include “five conductors, a Kynar jacket for applications up to 125° C, and compliance with the Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive that calls for reductions in lead and other environmentally undesirable chemicals.” The cable works with Liberty crimp connectors, and comes packaged on 500-foot spools for easier handling. It is also available in a non-plenum version as RGB5C-23-CM.

Samples of RGB5C-23-CMP Plenum Cable can be seen with Liberty’s other outstanding products at Booth 5641, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, during the show.
