Yamaha AVENTAGE Series A/V Receivers

Yamaha today introduced a line of A/V receivers that embody obsessive attention to detail combined with a multitude of engineering refinements made to achieve peak performance at affordable price points.

The new AVENTAGE (pronounced Ah-Ven-Taj) A/V Receiver Series is the result of Yamaha's meticulous design process to refine and re-engineer the receiver from the ground up, and to make subtle changes that mean the difference between good and great sound. The new series is a complement to Yamaha's award-winning RX-V line, which will continue to carry attractive feature sets in the opening to mid-level price points.

The AVENTAGE series is not just the “next generation” by any measure. Yamaha's R&D team took a granular look at every design aspect, including circuitry, construction, components, volume and sound reproduction qualities–even eco-friendly considerations for power consumption.

Subtle tweaks that may not be readily obvious to the end user–yet essential ingredients needed to provide peak performance–were continually evaluated and tested before being implemented in the final product line.

Examples of the many enhancements include the addition of a specially designed 5th foot to improve structural rigidity, reduce vibration and improve sound. Yamaha also incorporated double-bottom construction on select models to improve peak performance at any volume level. Components including wires, fuses and electrical paths were a major part of the refining/redesign equation. The end result is a work of visual and acoustic art that enthusiasts and custom integrators will appreciate.

Advanced networking control functions provide seamless integration with a wide range of third-party home automation control systems, while permitting network control via a PC Web browser or by a free iPhone/iPad app on select units. DLNA (1.5) compatibility enables networked AVENTAGE receivers to stream Internet Radio (MP3/WMA), Rhapsody and Sirius, while easily playing music files (WAV, MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC 96/24) from a PC or DLNA Server.

The top two units in the AVENTAGE series are the industry's first A/V receivers to incorporate the exceptional HQV “Vida” video processing chipset to ensure peak video performance. The top four units also feature dual HDMI or “Zone B” output capability for convenient dual HDTV viewing for the main room or use in a secondary room to share all available main system HDMI sources.

Key common features in the AVENTAGE series include:

  • 7.2 channels with full HD Audio decoding (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio
  • Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio)
  • Four SCENE buttons
  • iPod compatibility (with optional YDS-12 or YID-W10 wireless yAired dock)
  • Bluetooth compatibility
  • Compressed Music Enhancer
  • Low Jitter PLL Circuitry
  • HDMI V.1.4a 3D Pass-through with ARC (Audio Return Channel)
  • YPAO room optimizer

Plus analog-to-HDMI 1080p video upscaling with precise deinterlacing for stunning, lifelike picture quality, even from non-HD sources. The series offers Deep Color (30/36 bit) technology, x.v.Color, 24Hz Refresh Rates, audio input assign capability for HDMI and component video inputs and Auto Lip-Sync compensation, which automatically eliminates audio/video sync issues.

As with the existing Yamaha Home Theater product line, the AVENTAGE Series enables audio and video aficionados to take pleasure in their Blu-ray disc players, broadcast HD services and gaming consoles, as well as 3D televisions, with comprehensive feature sets throughout the line. Yamaha's proprietary Cinema DSP 3D audio processing, which is offered in each of the line's models, complements 3D television technology and provides extra height dimension to allow more engaging 3D video, through the use of the industry's only 3D Virtual Presence technology. This technology eliminates the need for extra front presence speakers.

Yamaha's AVENTAGE Series line consists of five models of versatile, high-performance 3D A/V receivers:

All models deliver superior HD video and audio performance, 3D Video support along with wide-ranging source connectivity and convenience features. The AVENTAGE series will be rolled out through August and September 2010.

“Yamaha had one goal in mind in creating the AVENTAGE series: to achieve the purest, best-sounding audio and the best video reproduction possible. Our engineers obsessed over every last detail. They didn't simply pick components that were labeled as having the best specs. Instead, they made countless refinements, representing hundreds of variables, and then listened intently to ensure these changes would provide peak performance. These are the best-sounding receivers we have ever made, and I believe our customers will appreciate the meticulous attention we've given to them. This is just one reason why AVENTAGE boasts a 50 percent longer warranty.”
— Tom Sumner, President of Yamaha Electronics Corporation
